A Moment in Time

A morning run is an exhilarating way to start the day. Today Ed and Julie are taking a Black Lab with them on their run; they're watching her for a friend who's out of town. Elsie chases a cat. Her leash wraps around their legs just as a car pulls up and a shot is fired. Julie is down. There's blood everywhere.

Detective Logan takes the call. When he gets to Ed's house he finds him drinking and secretive. Ed believes his wife has been shot because of the project he's working on. But Ed is sure he is the target. Ed's boss shows up. He's uncooperative with the police. He demands Ed be allowed to return to work immediately. Logan lets him into the house. He will be monitored. That way the police may learn something.

Samantha Jones is the PR rep at MTI, where Ed works. When Logan goes there, he finds Sam cold, professional, and beautiful. Logan can't let himself to be attracted to her. He has a case to solve. Sam could be a complication.

Ed is murdered. Evidence comes to light that Logan's wife, Sheila, might be the next victim. The people at MTI are protecting sensitive information and nothing is off limits, not even murder. Sheila is the Assistant DA, and that must be why she's on that list. But there could be another reason Logan's not seeing. Someone from Logan's past tells him there's a person behind this case who Logan knows. The friend won't tell him more; he says it's classified. Logan can't figure out who it is. The case, according to the friend, has national security implications, and America's survival is hanging in the balance. The truth, when Logan discovers it, will shock him beyond belief.

Don't go in the Basement

Detective William T. Logan is in harm's way again, fighting for the survival of not only himself and Special Agent Samantha Jones of the FBI, but also the country he loves.

There are monsters out there, and the same ones who want him dead also want to see America destroyed, especially if that will bring them more profits.

For those with evil hearts, greed is good. But with his current case something is different. This time the target seems to be Logan himself. And Logan almost welcomes the challenge.

Who's behind it? Special Agent Howard Thorne of the FBI believes it's a splinter group from the former Soviet Union. Logan doesn't agree. Logan thinks it's a con artist - a respected member of a church who sings in the choir, which is part of her act. Her motive would be simple: money, and the devious ways she plans on getting it. Her name is Mindy, and for her, too, greed is good. Thorne, as Logan calls him, to Special Agent Thorne's chagrin, and Logan go head to head, as the dead bodies keep piling up.

While he's wrapping his mind around the imminent threats to himself, the women in his life wrap him in a web he can't seem to escape. If he lives through the attacks, will he also be able to reconcile his relationships? It doesn't appear likely. Yet, there's hope. Maybe when the bad guys have been captured or killed he can settle down to a comfortable job and find relative peace. Or maybe not.
